Have your say on Daily Bag Limits

Fishing is more than just a pastime. Some of us fish for food. For some it’s life. For others it’s family time or a contest with your mates. However we view it, recreational fishing is part of who we are as New Zealanders.

Fisheries NZ has issued a complex range of options to change daily bag limits for recreational fishers. Submissions are due by this Thursday, 18th November. We’re saying slow down.

The options on offer are too complex. There is no quick fix. And the 600,000 people who go fishing during the year need an opportunity to have their say next year.

Right now. We’re saying: Keep it simple. Let’s fix the immediate problem. Then let’s have a bigger discussion next year.

Use the form below to make a submission based on our simple approach. We want you to have your say.

If you want to review all options on offer, visit the Review of recreational daily bag limits for finfish page on the Fisheries NZ website.

Deadline: 5pm, Thursday 18 November 2021.
