In 2020 Whitehaven refreshed the Kōparepare label and introduced a Pinot Gris. The new label features a more sophisticated and contemporary design, using the fish scales as the key design element. On the front label the link to LegaSea is clearly established, and on the back label there is a strong emotional connection to Samantha White as the brand ambassador to Kōparepare.
From the launch of the new label on 19 October 2020, Whitehaven will donate the total sales value from the first 125 cases of wines sold. This is expected to raise over $25,000. Following that, a further $1 per bottle will also be donated upon each sale.
Kōparepare (pronounced – Kaw-pardy-pardy) – meaning, Gift, Present, or Contribution delivers Whitehaven’s promise that “Each bottle of Kōparepare enjoyed helps fund LegaSea and their commitment to have our inshore fisheries restored to abundance. It’s our gift to future generations”.
Fish and wine? Maybe the wine wouldn’t be as tasty at the table without the fish, or the fish without the wine, but one thing is for sure; why would we want to lose one or the other?
“Whitehaven is the dream my parents shared while sheltering in the waters of the Marlborough Sounds. As a family operated business we are passionate about protecting our natural resources and I feel privileged to share this legacy with you through the Kōparepare range of wines. Kōparepare helps to fund the work of LegaSea. Please enjoy and join me in protecting New Zealand’s marine environment.”
Samantha White, Kōparepare Ambassador, Whitehaven Wines.
Please note you must be 18 years of age or older to purchase this wine.
The Kōparepare range includes six Marlborough wines; a Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Gris, a Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir Rosé and a Pinot Noir.
Remember each purchase you make helps to fund LegaSea’s work, all while providing you with fine wines for your table.

A medium-bodied wine, richly textured with lovely fruit purity. The citrus and tropical flavours are carried to a long refreshing finish.
Kōparepare 2020 Marlborough Pinot Gris
Brand new Pinot Gris for 2020. Lifted floral tones, underpinned by ripe pear and white nectarine notes. Classic pear and fig flavours, with a suggestion of nougat and almond.
Light to medium-bodied, this wine displays notes of lemon and grapefruit. Made to be easy to drink, this finely textured wine has refreshing acidity that is perfectly balanced by a hint of residual sugar.
