Overview:
This Summer The Kai Ika Project is expecting to scale up filleting operations. As a result, new team members are required to assist with daily operations across multiples sites.

Hours/length of contract:
This role is a casual position with potential to provide hours of up to 20 hours, usually over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week.

Location:
Westhaven Z Pier, the Outboard Boating Club of Auckland (OBC) and events inside and outside of Auckland.

Reports to:
Kai Ika Leading Hand

Key Relationships:
Lead Filleters, Leading Hand, Project Coordinator, Volunteers, Customers, Fishing Charter Operators and Key Stakeholders.

The Kai Ika Project is a non-profit educational initiative that brings communities together to share underutilised fish parts, to reduce wastage and conserve fish for future generations.

Our fish filleting service plays a vital role in our ability to promote sustainability whilst allowing us to recover more fish and feed more whānau.

Purpose of position:

The concierge plays a vital role in allowing our Lead Filleters to maintain a high productivity. The concierge will focus on customer engagement whilst being responsible for handling fish and ensuring Lead Filleter/s have fish in front of them to process.

When time allows, gathering of customers/public details for our LegaSea database.

In your previous role you may have been in customer service, retail or front of house in a café that has seen you deal with a wide range of public. For this role you must be willing to be around and be comfortable handling fish.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for carrying out point of sale transactions (cash and eftpos handling).
  2. Upsale of SKUs (stock keeping units – Containers, Fog Dog products, Knife Sharpening, etc.).
  3. Provide high quality customer service.
  4. Speak and engage with the public and customers.
  5. Keep the filleting station clean while processing.
  6. Collecting fish from the Z Pier Wharf drop off location and direct from OBC members cleaning their boats.
  7. Fish handling.
  8. Continually support the Lead Filleters and ensure they have fish in front of them to process.
  9. Packing containers with fish fillets and end product.
  10. Signatures and details for our LegaSea database
